Critical Commentary

Notes that given LA's high level of toxic chemical pollution, residents might expect the EPA to be thorough when considering permits for new chemical plants; however, this does not seem to be the case for proposed Formosa facility. Article discusses Formosa's previous environmental record (settling with EPA for a $3.3 million fine for violating hazardous and solid waste laws at Point Comfort, TX plastics plant, which was largest every collected by EPA for such a violation; shutting down of a plant in Delaware because of environmental violations).
