Nancy Bui is a history researcher specifying on Vietnam War and the Vietnamese American history. She is also a writer, documentary filmmaker, and environmental and human rights activist. Her current role is as Vice President of External Affairs of Justice for Formosa Victims Association (jffv.org), a non-profit organization based in Louisiana. JFFV was founded in 2017 to support victims of environmental disasters caused by the Formosa Ha Tinh company in the Central provinces of Vietnam to fight for justice.
In June 2019, JFFV assisted 7875 victims in filing a lawsuit against Formosa in Taiwan. The lawsuit is now pending at the Taiwan Supreme Court.
