Biography

Darryl has been active in environmental and environmental justice issues since the early 1970s in North Carolina, Alabama and Louisiana.
He helped coin the term “Cancer Alley” during the BASF Labor Lock-out in the 1985 and helped to organize “the Great Louisiana Toxics March” an 11 day march from Baton Rouge to New Orleans in 1988.
He has worked with African American communities along “Cancer Alley” now “Death Alley since 1983. He has helped communities to build their power and work to stop pollution of the air, water and land of Louisiana and the United States.
