EiJ Global Record: Eastern North Carolina, USA

The eastern Piedmont and southeastern lowlands of North Carolina are the “birthplace” of the environmental justice movement (EJ) in the United States. The region continues to be one of the territories most targeted by industrial agriculture and the energy industry, and most vulnerable to climate change. At the same time, it is perhaps the most ecologically and culturally diverse area in the state.
