WORKFLOW: ECV | Salton Sea | Imperial Valley Field Campus

BEFORE THE FIELD CAMPUS

1. Annotate the resources listed in the Syllabus below. Annotations can be done using a number of analytics, with the EiJ Case Study Framework as an organizing analytic for our advocacy and education efforts. 

2. If possible, upload additional artifacts to the Disaster STS Research Network, associating them with the  California Desert Communities research group. 

DURING THE FIELD CAMPUS

1. As you listen to the speakers and make observations during this trip, take detailed notes on what you observe and listen to in your preferred note-taking method. We have set up a Collaborative Field Notes template that you can use. 

2.  If possible, take notes in the ECV| Salton Sea| Imperial Valley Research Sketchbook, familiarizing yourself with the EiJ Case Study Framework. 

3. During breaks or after the activities of the day have ended, add your day’s notes to the ECV| Salton Sea| Imperial Valley Research Sketchbook. If you took photos and videos, upload them as artifacts to the California Desert Communities research group.

AFTER  THE FIELD CAMPUS

1. Revisit your annotations and notes, adding to the ECV| Salton Sea| Imperial Valley Research Sketchbook. 

2. Using your notes, annotations, and the sketchbook, annotate the Archive Log of the California Desert Communities Research Group using the EiJ Case Study Framework, picking up one of the case study questions for a detailed response. 

3. For our curriculum development projects, we are writing empirical snapshots to describe and characterize environmental  snapshots of concepts and hazards (using this organizing spreadsheet).
