Critical Commentary

This is a picture of a map that shows land ownership, reclamation districts, and levees in the area around the Tulare Lake Basin in 1938. The map shows pretty much all of Kings County. It belongs to a former water master for a major agricultural company in the San Joaquin Valley. Here, he is pointing to a fork in the Kings River where it diverges into the North Fork, which eventually joins the San Joaquin River, and the South Fork, which flows into the Tulare Lake.
