This virtual tour has stops in nine communities across the San Joaquin Valley that highlight different dimensions of the Valley's challenges and successes in environmental governance. You can start the tour or see the full list of sites on the right.
This tour was created by Margaret Tebbe, Taranjot Bhari, and Katie Vo as part of the Environmental Injustice: Building a Global Record Project. It is based on collective field notes from a field campus in the San Joaquin Valley, archival research, and brief interviews with stakeholders. It does not capture the full depth and complexity of environmental (in)justice in the Valley, but we hope that it can serve as a starting point for many different people, from those who have never been to California to residents of the San Joaquin Valley.
The project was funded in part by the University of California, Irvine's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Project. This tour was also funded by Ten Strands' Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program and serves as a component of the two high school environmental justice units written by the UCI EcoGovLab.
