SEA LEVEL RISE: SOURCES

Text

Anthropogenic activities, particularly burning fossil fuels, have led to the rise of temperatures observed throughout the planet. This phenomenon, termed “global warming”, has an effect on many different components of the environment. In particular, rising water levels, due to warmer temperatures, is caused by the expansion of oceans through heating, water inflow from melting ice sheets, and water inflow from glaciers.
