SEA LEVEL RISE: CRITICAL CASE: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

Text

While wildfires and droughts seem to be the most commonly debated issues, when the topic of climate change is discussed, sea level rise is actually having drastic effects on the coastal regions of California, as it erodes with the increasingly severe storms and rising tides.

As the world gets increasingly hotter with every passing year, individuals have begun to see seaside cliffs crumble in cities, such as Pacifica, which has led to the collapse of entire buildings. In San Diego, there have been greater numbers of residents leaving their homes to avoid the effects of increasing erosion and storm surges, while those left behind have begun pleading with city officials to create bigger seawalls that can hold back the ocean, which continues to grow in size, due to warming temperatures.
