Fortun, Kim. 2020. “Rapid Qualitative Research Design,” assignment developed for “Advanced Social Medicine,” course for MS program in the Division of Disaster and Radiation Medical Sciences at the Joint Graduate School run by Nagasaki University and Fukushima Medical University.
Established in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, the Nagasaki University-based program is designed to educate a new generation of radiation experts who are prepared to serve throughout the world. “Advanced Social Medicine” is a required, specialized subject in the overall MS curriculum, as shown on this curriculum map. The goal of this course is to help students develop the analytic and research skills to understand the social and cultural dimensions of health, health systems and health knowledge -- particularly in contexts where there are radiation hazards.
