Managing Climate Change on Different Scales

Text

When Miranda heard about the 2018 Breathing Easy In a Changing Climate Workshops she was motivated to attend to learn about how to deal with mold issues. However, she wasn't just looking for information on how to manage mold as an individual; she was also concerned about mold on a larger scale.

Ali: How did you hear about the workshop?

Miranda: That’s a very interesting question because I actually am a volunteer at a school, and I don't know if you're familiar with it, Northlanding Elementary School?

Ali: No, I’m not familiar with that one.

Miranda: Northlanding Elementary School is going through a big, big issue with mold. I am a volunteer there, I tutor children to read. Not only that, I'm trying to sell my home in Lincoln and I recently found out that my garage is full of mold. So those two main issues were the reasons why I came to the workshop.

Ali: Okay. And so did you ... Okay, and did you hear about the workshop through a newsletter or a poster-

Miranda: I believe I got an email about it because I was inquiring about how to get rid of mold in my home. And so I think some kind of way, I don't know, the computer gods or something sent me an email. It was like right on time. Because I was trying to clean it and do everything and then the contractors were giving me all this different information and the prices were going up and it was just a big issue. So when I got the email, you know it was like it came to me for a reason. And it was so funny because I was at school and they were talking about the mold at Northlanding Elementary School and saying how they were going to try to clean it up during the summer and I was like I've been trying to do this for two years and it's not doing it. So how are you going to do a big giant school?

Miranda: So I was really concerned about that. Because I can't get rid of it. It looks like it goes away but then you get people who come in and say oh, it's behind the walls, in the wood. It's here, it's there. It's like everywhere.
