Critical Commentary
The Ahoskie Plant is the first Enviva plant that was opened in North Carolina. This plant has a production capacity of 410,000 metric tons annually. The facility operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week to maximize production. In 2022 the Ahoskie plant applied for a permit to increase production from 481,800 to 630,000 metric tons. Receiving this Title V permit also requires installation of air pollution control equipment and operational limits to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds and total hazardous air pollutants.
