Manage a team of four environmental protection specialists focused on reducing environmental impacts from the transportation sector. Transportation projects include highways, airports, ferries, transit, rail, and California High Speed Rail.

Areas of focus are:

1) Reducing near roadway health impacts of transportation projects;

2) Identifying advanced mitigation strategies for habitat and aquatic resource impacts from infrastructure projects;

3) Increasing capacity of local communities and transportation agencies to integrate sustainability goals and objectives into projects; and

4) Improving environmental outcomes through review and comment on Environmental Impact Statements prepared to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act.

Additional duties include developing and managing the contracts, scope-of-work, budgets, and workload and financial reporting for two Interagency Agreements funding 4 environmental specialists at EPA with State of California (Caltrans and High Speed Rail Authority) funds. The goal of the funded positions is to facilitate greater early coordination on complex highway and rail projects in California.
