The following PECE Essay will analyze my attendance to the International Monitor Formosa Alliance's congressional briefing in October 2023. The hour-long briefing described the mass fish death and environmental disaster in 2016 sparked by toxic pollution from Formosa Plastics Group's Ha-Tinh Steel plant in Vietnam. Through a series of speeches by activists, videos from victims, and a Q&A panel, the briefing called for American legislators to demand the release of Vietnamese protestors from imprisonment and just compensation for disaster victims.
