Critical Commentary

A CNN article from 2021 detailing the exploitation of rural Black communities in Estern North Carolina and other parts of the South by powerful Biomass manufacturers. The article pays lots of attention to health problems and declining populations of Northhampton County where many people have asthma and limited access to adequate healthcare for their pollution-related illnesses. It includes firsthand accounts from interviews with residents and their interactions with the EPA and DEQ in their efforts to fight against the corporations in their neighborhoods.
