Critical Commentary

In 2010, artists and craftsmen-women who rent small local businesses, started an initiative against noise and air pollution resulting from excessive bus/car traffic. Maria José Machado, a young artist, published an art-work called Blanco Neblumo that used cars’ smog to “paint” portraits of affected neighbors. However, despite raising their protest and discontent with local authorities, little or no action has been taken to decrease noise/air pollution.
